The intersection of Interstate 4 and Interstate 95 is busy and comes up quick in Volusia County, but what happens if it shuts down?

If I-4 closes in any part of Volusia County, drivers may have to find an alternate route to Orlando, so what is the best alternate?

WESH 2 traffic reporter Danielle Bellini said U.S. Highway 92 can help drivers looking for a detour.

"It's not bad. There's a 65 mph speed limit, and you've got two lanes in each direction and traffic usually moves at a nice pace," Bellini said.

Drivers should make a left on Kepler Road and that turns into the Martin Luther King Jr. Beltway. That helps drivers because they don't have to go all the way into DeLand on U.S. Highway 17-92.

"This is such a good alternate because we already passed state Road 44. We?re passed Orange Camp Road, and you?ve already had two different opportunities to hop back on I-4," Bellini said.

Drivers then make a quick right onto Graves Avenue. It may seem a little out of the way, but it's the best way because then it will connect with Veterans Memorial Parkway. After making a quick left turn there, drivers continue running parallel to I-4, traveling southbound and in the right direction.

"There are no stoplights, no lights, and we've got one lane in each direction, and it's wide open," Bellini said.

Drivers can make a final left on Saxon Boulevard, and take Saxon right over to I-4. Hopefully by the time they reach Saxon Boulevard in Deltona, they'll be past any troublespots and reconnect with I-4.
