With just a few keystrokes on their keyboards, emergency dispatchers in Clermont County can find out the exact location of a call on a cell phone when they dial 911.

For example, dispatchers used a special mapping system to pinpoint Peggy Dorsey, who was lost in the woods at East Fork Lake State Park.

"We were able to actually send the deputies right to where this lady was," Public Safety Services Director Beth Nevel said.

Although Clermont is one of only eight counties in the state with the cell locator system, officials in Columbus said Hamilton and Butler counties should have the technology by the end of the year. Warren County is working on a deal, but there's no specific date set.

In most cases, funding is the biggest obstacle, but Nevel said the system is worth the money.

"You see accidents -- we can help pinpoint where they are if they're traveling through this area," she said.
